Frances, you definitely need to get one if only to replace those 5 items on your desk.
I know you are a non-believer from your various blogs but it’s a matter of discipline (to prevent it taking you over) . Also get a top of the range organiser for the device you select as the software that ships with the devices may not be the best out there.
Since you have a history with Palm I’d recommend the Palm Pre. Not sure what it’s organiser is like but consider “Pocket Informant” if not up to scratch
